The many faces of Landon...
Riding a tractor trike with Daddy through the little farmer's maze
The pig races!
Before the Honeybee ride started
Kissing cows. The look on Kyle's face says it all.
Goat lovin' boy!
The Goat Whisperer
Chase and Mommy on the carousel
Never am I more proud of my little boy than when he wears my shoes and flings his hand in the air like a miss priss, while he prances about the house.
Yummy caramel apples
Me and my cute little pumpkin. Please try not to focus on how awful I look, bleh. Kyle was a football player and I was a cheerleader for Halloween.
After a long hard day fighting fires...
Hello wee little fire fighter!
Fire Fighter Chase to the rescue!
Landon, supervising the busy pumpkin carvers
I hope you all had a great Halloween! Halloween is the kick off for my favorite holidays of the year, as I'm sure it is for many. I love getting into the spirit of Halloween and stuffing our unwilling children into oh so adorable costumes, making frightful yet delicious treats, chili and cornbread, trunk or treats...the list goes on. It's awesome. This past week we spent a few days celebrating Halloween. We went to the coolest pumpkin patch/farm I've ever been to on Thursday. The admission was super cheap and included everything! All the rides were free, there were corn mazes, pig races, a giant slide, petting zoo, and tons more. That's my kind of Pumpkin Festival. We had such a great time as a family. We packed a picnic dinner and had lots of fun, then wrapped up the night roasting mallows while we listened to the band play. It was great fun for all.
On Friday night we carved our pumpkins and had our ward chili dinner and trunk or treat. We got the kids all dressed up and went to get our trunk or treating on. Kyle did the rounds with Chase whilst Landon (as a pumpkin) laid on a blanket in our trunk as I passed out candy. We had a lot of requests for him as opposed to candy, but I wasn't about to part with my little pumpkin pie! Chase got a lot of "licky pops" which are his favorite, so we called it a success.
On Halloween we had the missionaries over for dinner. My mom used to sign up for the missionaries to come over for dinner on Halloween night every year when I was growing up. They can never go tracting that night and no one ever wants to sign up to have them over on Halloween, sad huh? That happened to be the case in our ward. I think the sign up email went around our relief society a good 3 times with every day being filled except Halloween, so I caved. My mom would always make the traditional chili and cornbread dinner, so I followed suit. I've never made chili before, but apparently it was a huge success. The Elders had massive amounts and I wondered if we would have to roll them out of our house. One Elder had two heaping bowls of chili and 4 huge pieces of cornbread. He literally did not come up from being hunched over his bowl unless a question was directed to him. The funniest part was that he was humming while he was eating. When he said he really liked it, I had no choice but to believe him. He was pretty convincing. We had carmel apples rolled in Heath bar and drizzled with chocolate for dessert and some "goblin goo" (green sherbet ice cream and 7-up). We had planned on taking Chase trick or treating but he had plenty of excitement with the missionaries and it was getting too late when they left. He had a lot of fun helping us pass out candy and whenever the doorbell would ring he'd run to the door and yell, "OH! DOOR? DOOR?" He thought it was delightful in every way that we had so many exciting visitors in one night.
It's been a great Halloween. We're all coming off of our sugar high and taking it nice an easy today. We hope you all had an awesome Halloween too!

the GOAT whisperer, that is HILARIOUS!!!!! oh man, that photo is priceless... in fact, i will be printing that off and making a wallet-sized copy, sticking it in my purse and showing random folks around town how CUTE it is!!
oh AND the Miss Priss picture... again, i'm rollin' over that!! you are freaking hilarious, jess!!! i love reading your stuff!
ps. feeding the missionaries: 1) you are a SAINT 2)sounds DELISH!! and 3)that elder sounds like he eats JUST LIKE ME... it's awkward at times, but when the job has to get done, i can shovel that food in and no one gets hurt. they call me Pro... but i don't wanna brag.
ps. i LOVE these pics, Landon is the apple of my very eye.
All of your pics are priceless. That Pumpkin Festival looked like so much fun especially for Chase. I told Chris on Halloween that I wish we knew of something fun like that for Burton to go to. Chase was such a handsome firefighter. You guys had such a legit Halloween, caramel apples and chili, what else do you need? It's so fun having the missionaries over for dinner too. Burton always refers to them as his friends. So where is a pic of you and Kyle in your costumes?
Oh my goodness I love you so much Jess.... Landon and Chase were sooooo cute and I love how Chase wanted to be a "fider fider" it makes me laugh so much. It looks like you guys had a blast, cany wait until Chance is here so we can dress him up and we can eat all his candy yyyaaaaaa
I could just eat up all that Landon pumpkin pie! I LOVE what you did with Chase's costume with the soot on his face and all. It was great, totally outdid our meager attempt with Ethan :) Where did you get his costume? Ours was plastic and cheap from Wal-mart cause I was lazy!
Where do I start? You posted so many great pictures! Landon is adorable. Chase was the cutest firefighter, smudged with soot, that I've ever seen. The carmel apples look delicious. It looks and sounds like you had a terrific Halloween.
It was great to see sooo many pictures of your darling boys!! I thought it was so cool that you feed the missionaries on Halloween. I totally want your chili recipe--I have never gotten that reaction from my Chili-- Seriously. I was telling Scott that I felt a little sorry for him, because I am not a very great cook. I said it sounds like Jess is a really wonderful cook. Your family is lucky to have you. I also wanted to thank you for your sweet comments on my blog! Especially the comment on my baby belly pictures. I wish I could always have your sweet words of compliments in my head. You made me feel so good about myself, in fact I went back and read them again today because I wanted to feel better about my big belly. Thanks for lifting me up. You are wonderful and so kind. We really do miss you and your family. Hopefully we can visit this summer! I love you. Take Care!!
I totally thought I had already commented on this post...and then I was reading the comments and wondering where mine was? So I feel like I'm repeating myself, but I'll say it again...I love the Goat Whisperer. I burst out laughing when I read that and saw the picture. That looks like so much fun, I wish they had something like that up here. Your little fireman and pumpkin were SO CUTE!! Landon has the best smiles, I just want to pinch his cheeks! You're just going to have to move up here so him and Carson can be chubby buddies!
Oh my gosh! Adorable pics! I LOVE their Halloween costumes!!!! Super cute! Adorable animal shots too! Mason just keeps asking me to show him again and again! I love petting zoos but hate the germs!
