Being fearless and running into the cold water head on
This was when we had just barely arrived at the beach and Chase ran as fast as he could toward the water. Kyle had to run and grab him all the while he was trying to dive over Kyle's shoulder to get back to the water as soon as possible!
My mom came into town last Tuesday and we are so very lucky to have her! It's been like having a live in wonder woman. She cooks and cleans and entertains the guts out of Chase and snuggles and spoils Landon and changes most of both of the boys diapers and loves giving them baths and I could go on and on, the woman is amazing! We were sitting around chatting sometime last week and reminiscing about our past family vacations to San Diego and my mom said, "well, why don't we go?!" It's only about a six hour drive and we thought it would be fun to stay overnight and just be beach bums for a couple of days. So we left this past Tuesday and got back yesterday and had so much fun. It was so nice going back to San Diego. Kyle, Chase, and Landon have never been to California before and they all had a blast. Chase absolutely adored the beach. He loved playing in the sand and building sand castles with Kyle and he was all too brave about getting into the water. He simply loved it! We had to keep a careful watch on him because he'd run full speed ahead into the water and didn't care if a wave toppled him over even though it was pretty chilly. Kyle boogie boarded for awhile and did really well after I gave him a quick boogie boarding 101 lesson. We stayed at a really nice hotel, slept in and got up the next morning and went to Balboa Park, then hit the beach again. It was an awesome trip! I almost cried (seriously)when we got out of the car and were approahing Mission Beach. I could smell the salty air and see and hear the waves. I.LOVE.THE.BEACH. It brought back so many wonderful memories and I just love bustling beach life with all the surf shops and people just bumming around licking ice cream cones and soaking up the sun.
Balboa Park was beautiul as always. We loved the botanical gardens and the thick smell of jasmine flowers at the Japanese Friendship Gardens. It was simply breathtaking. Landon was a gem the entire time and seemed to really enjoy his first trip to San Diego and Chase was in heaven the whole time. Here are some pictures from our little vacation!
