Just caught the tail end of a little smile. He smiles a lot!

Chase showing Landon how to play with the fish hanging from his toy
Well we made it through the first week and with flying colors I would dare say. This week has been crazy to say the very least but not due to having a newborn for the most part. Landon has been absolutely wonderful! I don't remember the last time I heard him cry since we came home. He's so content and sweet. So far everything about him has been a lot easier than it was the first time around.
I guess I'll start by telling you about my labor and delivery since many people have asked how D-Day went down. I started having contractions at 3:30 in the morning last Sunday. I get the braxton hicks contractions in my pregnancies around six months on and I don't really pay much attention to them because I hardly notice them. These contractions woke me up though. I decided I wasn't going to be able to sleep at around 4 am so I decided to take a bath. As I was drawing my bath, groggy Kyle came in and said (still half asleep), "are you cleaning the bathroom?" Yes, at 4 am I've decided to do a little nesting. I replied, "nope, I figured I may have this baby today and so I want to take a bath before we go to the hospital." That woke him up right away. After that he ran around the house collecting last minute hospital bag items and stuff for Chase's bags all while timing my contractions. We finally went into the hospital at 3:00 pm, thanks to the persistence of an inspired mother-in-law and I was dilated to a five and moving along rapidly. My contractions hadn't been closer than 7-10 minutes apart and when we got into triage the nurse looked at me when I told her that and kind of just smiled. After she checked me che said, "honestly, I thought I'd be sending you guys home when you told me how far aprt your contractions were." I told her I thought the same exact thing and wished I'd had a camera to capture the looks on both Kyle and my face when she told us that I was dilated to a five with a bulging bag of water ready to burst any second. So we went to labor and delivery and I was given pitocin after which my water broke on it's own a couple minutes later. My doctor came in and checked me again and broke my water the rest of the way. I labored down for a little while after reaching a ten, and I had to turn from side to side while Landon was engaged to turn him so he wasn't sunny side up. Poor little guy had a nice looking bruise all over his face due to that. My doctor came back in and said, "alright let's have a baby," and with three contractions Landon was out in a flash. He came out SCREAMING! My doctor said that there were 2 things about him that she'd never seen before. One, a baby that was so vigorous right after birth with one powerful set of pipes on him, and two an umbilical cord as big in circumference as his was. She said that was a very good sign of an extremely healthy pregnancy.

Recovery has been a million times better this time around also. I woke up yesterday morning feeling like I really wanted to get on the treadmill and run. I didn't of course, I don't want to press my luck, but I do feel pretty great for just having had a baby.
Chase has been warming up a little bit more to Landon, but he has not warmed up to the idea of having to share his parents and all the changes that come with a newborn. He's taking it a little hard and is "volatile" at times as I like to describe it. He finally touched Landon on his own for the first time a couple days ago and he said, "tickle tickle tickle!" while tickling his feet. We thought that was a bit of a break through. I think he'll be a little better when my mom comes because he loves visitors and other people giving him some attention, and who's better at spoiling a child and giving them lots of attention than a grandmother. We're really excited for her to come. Anyways, I don't want to make this too long, but thank you for all the well wishes. I can't wait to be able to update more regularly and catch up on all your blogs. Here are some more pictures!

i'm so glad your labor/delivery story is as EASY PEASY as it was... it gives me HOPE and a glimmer of light (when I decide for another baby one day) and I'm so glad Landon is a sweet, chill baby and he came with very little complications!!!!
Sweet Chase is adorable, he'll be an amazing big brother and they'll be little besties before you know it!!!! Don't forget pictures of you and baby Landon (wish you lived closer, I'd LOVE to do a photo shoot with you guys... i'm a beginner but hey, free photos!)

oh and PS.
no. that horse is NOT pregnant.
nor does she like that insinuation.
in fact.
she's been trying to loose that stubborn "calf-fat" for the past two years now.
granted.
she needs to learn how to say no to brownies and cookies.
oh, i mean... hay and grass.
she's just a big fat horse.
with a big fat horses arse.
i.
love.
you.
to.
bits.
I love that last picture of chase. So cute. And I love how Kyle thought you were cleaning at 3am. What a weirdo.
YAY!!!! congrats, congrats, congrats. He is super adorable and I love the thick dark hair. what a cute family! i am glad to hear everything went so well.
Love the new pictures, Chase looks like such a proud big brother. I can't get over how much hair Landon has, I hope he doesn't lose it! I think my favorite part of the birth story is Kyle asking you if you're cleaning the bathroom at 4 a.m., I thought that was hilarious. Oh Kyle! Glad to hear everyone is doing well, I bet your looking forward to your mom getting there! Take care!
Congrats you guys he is precious!!! You'll have to let me know how it is with two midgets i only have 11 weeks until i have two. So let me know how it goes.
Jess, you are super woman/mom/everything. It sounded like a smooth delivery for the most part. I'm glad to hear you are feeling so well. I still can't imagine having two boys, they will have so much fun together I'm sure. I can't believe all of his hair. It took Burton two years to get that much hair. I wish I could see him, he looks so precious wrapped up like a little burrito.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I LOVE his beautiful hair. HOw sweet is he.
It is so good to hear the second labor was better than the first (AND RECOVERY). I just hope I can say the same.
